Chemical Peels Improve Skin Texture and Clarity

Chemical peels are a wonderful – and quick – way to improve skin texture and clarity. Fall is an especially popular time to have it done to help erase sun damage accumulated during the summer months.

What happens during a chemical peel?
Your clinician will clean your skin and will apply a glycolic or salicylic facial mask depending on your skin’s condition and needs. The glycolic or salicylic is designed to expedite exfoliation of the top layers of skin. After a set amount of time, your clinician will neutralize the chemical.

What happens after a chemical peel?
Over the next few days, your skin will slough off (“peel”) on the treated area. Fresh, new layers replace the skin that is removed. We recommend letting the skin naturally fall off – no peeling. Also, it is critical to wear sunscreen to let your new skin heal without extra exposure to UV rays. Hyperpigmentation and sunburn can result if you do not protect the new skin.

What improvements will I see with a chemical peel?
Chemical peels will improve your skin’s texture, diminish fine lines, improve skin clarity, and enhance your skin’s overall appearance. For best results, we recommend a series of 6 treatments at biweekly intervals (or as prescribed by your clinician). A chemical peel session is 30 minutes long.
